Of Black Lives Matter...taking down statues

So, still reeling from the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, we read about the racist attempt at incriminating Christian Cooper. We then hear about the killing of Breonna Taylor and then right after that comes the heinous murder of George Floyd both at the hands of people who are  supposed to protect and serve.

These back-to-back incidents, with seemingly no indication of justice being served, caused protests and riots, some still going on as I type.

People all over the world daring infection from COVID-19; congregating and asking for justice. And then comes the murder of Rayshard Brooks, asleep in his car one minute, dead the next, again, at the hands of the police.

With countless depictions of the disparity in the treatment of blacks versus whites during encounters with the police, it is so mind-boggling that some people mindlessly quip or post this silly retort, "All Lives Matter" whenever there's a discussion.

It is so ridiculous that people have to beg for black lives to matter!

Why is it so difficult for the USA and the rest of the world to accept that black people are real bona fide human beings?

What is this irrational fear of blacks that causes people to behave inhumanely towards them?

Many fires later, curfews set in place and the National Guard called to duty then comes arrests and charges and taking down of statues.

People are questioning the reasoning behind the removal of statues dedicated to slave owners, I'm pretty sure that's self-explanatory but let me offer some insight.

Statues in public places are made for adoration and adulation; there is nothing praise-worthy about the kidnapping, raping and enslaving of ones fellow human being! Think about it...today, that behaviour will land one in prison for life, in some states, your liable to be executed.

It is akin to placing a statue of a serial killer or serial rapist in a public space for people to cheer and praise. Who does that?

Some people think removing those structures is white-washing the nation's history; ummm, no, it is not!

White-washing is failing to teach about the injustices placed on blacks and the sustained disenfranchisement of a race of people who died building this country.

Changes need to be made and made now!

The revolution will be televised!
